STUDY ON THE VARIABILITY OF GLUTATHIONE-S-TRANSFERASES ACTIVITY FROM HUMAN PERIPHERAL BLOOD LEUKOCYTES

Abstract

|
Leukocyte glutathioneS-trans ferase activity has been measured from 115 male and 135 female subjects. The distribution of the enzyme activity from both male and female subjects was gaussian and the range of enzyme activity was from 1.28 to 6.73 fcmol/min per 106 WBC.
The mean enzyme activities were 3.74±0.92 and 3.75-4-1.01 l-imol/min per 106 WBC in male and female, respectively and there was no significant difference between activity and age. Comparison of enzyme activity by the percentage of granulocytes showed that mean activity was significantly higher in high granulocyte groups.
